Transforming the existing urban fabric through infrastructure is the main goal. By shaping bridge-like infrastructure, the aim is to connect the gaps between cities and integrate with the texture of the city itself. The entire studio’s project is located in the capital of Colombia, Bogotá. The students’ design sites are at the intersection of the city center and civilian life, with the existing terrain consisting of several uneven-width roads and water channels. All students’ works will simultaneously occur on the site, creating a new urban infrastructure complex for the location.
Situated next to the largest park in the heart of Bogotá, the core function of the project is to serve as a bridge facilitating communication between the city and the park. Therefore, the functional design of the entire project includes public bathrooms, commercial streets, restaurant venues, and multifunctional open spaces. The vision for the project is to create a public infrastructure that can be changed by people through continuous spatial shaping, suitable ecological and architectural systems for the site, fostering long-term development. As the design also represents a bottom-up design expectation, the users of the building are likewise considered a part of the future evolution of the architecture.
